Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 Cup white onion finely chopped
  • 1 Pound Owens All Natural* Pork Sausage
  • 1 Bag baby spinach chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 Cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 Cup garlic herb cheese spread
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Crostinis, crackers or chips to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in medium frying pan over medium heat, add onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add Owens Naturally! Original Sausage and crumble over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add chopped spinach into the pan with the cooked sausage and onion. Cover and cook until the spinach is wilted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a separate medium pan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat and add the all-purpose flour. Whisk constantly to make a roux.
  5. When the roux begins to bubble and thicken, remove from heat. Add the heavy cream and garlic herb cheese and whisk until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  6. Return the pan to low heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the spinach and sausage into the finished sauce.
  8. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve hot with crostini, crackers or chips.
